President's News

FROM  THE  DESK  OF  THE            PRESIDENT

Dear Members,

It is indeed my pleasure and honor to serve as your President along with our incredible GFWC Mount Diablo District “Team” Executive Committee and Chair. Our goals are to continue to strengthen our internet presence, to educate an share the benefits of GFWC membership and to support the Snug As A Bug Bags (https://snugasabugbags.org.).

We are now entering a somewhat normal life as we distance ourselves from the health concerns of COVID-19. As we face other issues both personally, locally and nationally, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support throughout these coming months as we put into action my motto,

“WE BELONG TOGETHER”.

The Tracy Woman’s Club has been recognized as one of the GFWC TOP 10 Projects for 2022 with their ESO Program.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MEMBERS OF THE TRACY WOMAN’S CLUB!

The question has been asked, “What does the District do for me and my club?” Great question and to reiterate the words of Kay Porter, our previous District President:

“The state of is quite large, it is the 3rd largest state in the United States. It measures 560 miles east to west and 1,040 miles north to south at its widest and longest points. From the most northern point of the state to the most southern point, at 70 mph, it would take you 14.8 hours to drive the length. From the most eastern point to the most western point it would take 8 hours to drive the width of the state. CFWC currently presides over 249 clubs in the state. To better connect the State Officers, with the clubs, the State was divided in to 4 areas, Areas A, B, C and D. Each Area has a Vice President which creates CFWC’s Membership Team. Our District is in Area A. Area A has 64 Clubs within 6 Districts. GFWC Mount Diablo District has been serving its clubs since 1956.”

Currently, we have 20 clubs within our District. Our Executive Committee is comprised of  9 members and we collectively have more than 150+ years of Federated experience. The GFWC Mount Diablo District “Team” is here to assist the clubs and their members within our District, facilitate meetings, guidance, ideas, education, projects and more.     Snug As A Bug Bags is my President's Project for 2023-2024. Allison Norris began Snug As A Bug Comfort Bags in January 2020 as a new way to reach more children in need. Previously she delivered the comfort quilts in ziplock bags. Allison was able to add more items in the duffel bags such as books, toys and personal care items and they are easier to ship and deliver.

Currently, Snug As A Bug Comfort bags are distributed John Muir Medical Center children’s unit and the pediatric infusion center, the Foster Youth and Homeless Advocacy Department of Antioch Unified School District, and the Antioch Police Department, on a monthly basis. Bags are also given to fire victims, veterans and recently sent 31 bags to Ukrainian children.

Terri Lynn Candy & Nuts Fundraiser, 20% of Terri Lynn purchases will support the Snug as a Bug Bags. You can click on donations on the website and purchase these wonderful products for a great cause. Thank you for your support.
